Hi Everybody,

The design of the admin interface has had an overhaul.

There were three basic goals to these changes:

  1. Less intimidating to new users
  2. Smaller, lighter html to download more quickly
  3. Convenience features so you spend less time in the admin area

Also, I personally had a great dislike for the "heavy" look of the admin area. The tabs at the top of many pages were especially dark and heavy.

Four sections have been chagned:

  • structure editor (now called "Files and Folders")
  • stylesheet editor
  • template editor
  • javascript editor

The changes are mostly visual, and probably don't need explaning. However, if you visit these pages and find that something looks very wrong, you may need to refresh your cache to get the new CSS.

These changes were sponsored and inspired by Yanisar Enterprises.

More are planned. Most notably, the conversant preferences area needs the same overhaul that the structure editor received.

Still lots to do, but I hope you like what's been done so far.

Seth
